there's going to be a lot more digging by the fbi. but at least -- and plus, add to that that no al qaeda groups or no al qaeda-affiliated groups or any international terrorist groups have claimed credit for this bombing, which is a bit odd if they were. because generally the whole purpose is to claim the credit and after most of the major terrorist attacks by al qaeda, there was a claim of responsibility. so, look, none of this is dispositive at this point. but at least so far, and we're early, the indicators do seem to match up that this is looking like a case of self-radicalization. that these brothers were on the internet, got inspired by reading "inspire" and other al qaeda and jihadi videos. there's also this prophet -- not prophet, this preacher, feiz mohammed, who's an awlaki type guy. an inspirational jihadi preacher who tamerlan tsarnaev in his youtube account posts videos from. so he may have played a role in inspiring these. inspiring them or radicalizing them. but as i said, chris, we're a long way from finishing this inv

and a lot of questions for the fbi. what we learned yesterday is that the fbi did have prior information about the older brother, tamerlan, that the russian intelligence service had had asked the fbi to investigate him in 2011 saying he was a follower of radical islam. the fbi says they interviewed tamerlan. they questioned members of his family, looked into public databases, and concluded they had no evidence of -- no hard evidence of islamic activity. now what's interesting -- radical islamic activity or anything cripple nal. now what's interesting in january of 2012 he gets a visa, flies to russia for six months, stays there. then he comes back to the united states and within a month he opens up this youtube account that's filled with islamic jihadi postings and radical prophecies that clearly would indicate sympathies for the jihad cause. did the fbi even notice that after having gotten this tip from the russian fsb? did they continue to monitor him? and then finally once the marathon bombing took place, did they go

if the sequester going into effect, it doesn't exempt the fbi. it doesn't exempt the experts who are examining these bombs. it didn'oesn't exempt those identifying the photographs. those with the amount of overtime, we're glad they were there, but they're entitled to be paid and i think it's appropriate for there to be funding for the city of boston and watertown and others that are around it. this is the -- this is the hypocrisy in the government, the total inconsistency. the people who are demanding we reduce the deficit are demanding more money. i guess we must take money away from someone else to pay for law enforcement. no, i don't want to reduce environmental cleanup and housing for the elderly or cut increases in social security. this is a time we should be providing more money. i guess i'm very grateful that we vote, or at least i did, to increase taxes on people making more than $400,000. >> former massachusetts congressman barney frank. thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us today. we appreciate it. >> you're welcome. >>
